In business organization system experts
are responsible for developing IS or enhancing the existing system for business
or opportunities. They coordinate all efforts to develop a successful system. A
successful I.S is one which can meet the information need of concert parties a
user is friendly and can operate smoothly in the environment for which is
designed. A systematic, cyclic, multi step process is carried on by system
specialist for developments of information system which is called (SDLC). The
steps in SDLC are, system analysis, system design, system implementation,
system operation.
1: SYSTEM ANALYSIS:
System analysis is the process of examine
the existing system for improvement of investigation the environment for
development new system. The reasons for system analysis are (a) to examine the
existing system for solving a problem (b) to satisfy the new requirement for
information or to (c) implement the new system.
The system analysis phase of SDLC
represents the application of system approach to organization problem.
2: SYSTEM DESIGN:
System design is the development of
specification for a proposed new system from the recommendation during system
analysis. During this phase the design team produce working papers provides
management with the prescription of system input, output and processing. After
review the management can approve or disapprove the system. Some the tie minor
changes are made to the designed system according to management specification.
3: SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION:
The implementation phase is the period in
which a designed system is placed for actual operations. Implementation deigns
when management become satisfied with designed system.
Four major activities take place during
implementation (1) equipment installation (2) programming (3) training and
conversation (4) tasting.
4: SYSTEM OPERATIONS:
When system is implementation its
operations are checked routinely to see its performance. This review enables
the management to check as the system is meeting its requirements.
When running new system errors may occurs
and these errors are removed by adjusting the system.
Sometime a smooth running system needs
changes due to a change in environment factors such as a change in tax rate
need changes in accounting system.
